Kedarkantha is the perfect first Himalayan snow trek. Standing at 12,500 ft in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarakhand, this winter classic rewards trekkers with a 360-degree panorama of some of the most iconic Himalayan peaks. The trail passes through dense forests of pine, oak and rhododendron, frozen lakes, and open meadows blanketed in snow.
Day 1
Depart from Dehradun and drive 220 km to Sankri
Reach Sankri, check into guest house, refreshments and evening walk
Trek briefing, dinner and overnight stay at Sankri
Day 2
Tea/Coffee and morning preparations
Breakfast
Start trek from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab (5 km)
Trek through forests, meadows and local hamlets including Goteka, Boiroka Ligudiya and Posla
Reach Juda Ka Talab, campsite setup, refreshments, dinner and overnight stay
Day 3
Breakfast at Juda Ka Talab
Start trek to Kedarkantha Base Camp (Lohasu) – 3.5 km
Trek through forests and meadows with Himalayan views
Reach Kedarkantha Base Camp, lunch, briefing and overnight camping
Day 4
Wake up and prepare for summit push
Trek to Kedarkantha Peak and witness sunrise over Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and Black Peak
Descend to Base Camp for lunch and rest
Descend to Hargaon Camp, snacks, dinner and overnight stay in tents
Day 5
Trek from Hargaon Camp to Sankri (6 km descent)
Reach Sankri and begin drive to Dehradun (220 km)
Arrive at Dehradun Railway Station and conclude trek
