Sahyadri Treks
22 routes · Half-day to full-day
The Sahyadri range — the northern stretch of the Western Ghats running through Maharashtra — is home to some of India's most iconic fort treks. Forts like Rajgad, Torna, and Sinhagad were once strongholds of the Maratha Empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and walking their trails today means climbing through the same rocky passes and ancient stairways carved into the hillside centuries ago.
What makes Sahyadri treks special is how accessible they are: most routes are within 2–4 hours of Pune or Mumbai, making them perfect weekend escapes. You don't need to take a week off — leave on Friday night or early Saturday morning, summit a fort by sunrise, and be back home by evening.
Nomad Thrills runs small-group Sahyadri treks with certified guides, transport from Pune and Mumbai, and all permits sorted in advance. Whether you're after an easy half-day climb like Lohagad or a demanding overnight trek to Harishchandragad's Konkan Kada, there's a route below for every fitness level.
Most Sahyadri forts and peaks are at their best from October to February, when the monsoon haze clears and visibility opens up for miles. June to September is monsoon season — trails turn lush green and waterfalls come alive, but routes get slippery, so we pick monsoon-friendly treks like Lohagad or Tamhini for those months. Summer (March–May) is best avoided for most routes due to heat.
